Aerial images and GIS processing techniques have revealed the layout of Altinum, which lies just north of Venice, the journal of Science reports. According to a paper published in July 30 edition of Science, scientists lead by Paolo Mozzi, a geomorphologist at the University of Padua, took aerial photos of the 100-hectare site following severe draught in 2007. It shows a theater (at the right upper side and an amphitheater (in the middle)! Mozzi's group plans to pursue further study of the site, so probably this blog will give further information in the future. More information of this Roman city and forerunner of Venice, can be found here.
