The commissionar of Games
Yesterday, I visited the Altes Museum in Berlin and found this statue of a 'Commissioner of Games'. On the pillar at the right and in his hand (see close up below), are the wreaths. Presumably, he was honoured by his community for his achievements with a publicly placed statue. Whether he was commissioner at the circus or at the amphitheater is not made clear.
The portrait indicates the time of Emporer Dacius. The statue once stood in the Klein-Glienicke palace, but was replaced to the Altes Museum in 1918.
